For many families the dog or cat simply belongs. That is why we get this question very often: can our pet be in the photo? The short answer is yes, and in this article you read how to handle it best.
Can my pet come along?
With us it is definitely possible, always in consultation. Send us a message beforehand via WhatsApp or the contact form and tell us you are bringing a pet. That way we avoid surprises on the day itself and can take it into account.
What do you tell us beforehand?
- Which animal it is and how many animals are coming along.
- Roughly how big the animal is.
- How it reacts to strangers, new places and noise.
- Which shoot the animal is joining, for example a family shoot or a portrait.
- Who guides the animal during the shoot.
Which shoots can a pet join?
Especially at a family shoot, a pregnancy shoot or a kids shoot a pet often simply belongs in the picture. Not sure whether it suits your shoot? Just ask us and we will think along with you.
Tips for a calm shoot with your pet
- Let your pet burn off some energy or take it for a walk beforehand, so it is calmer in the studio.
- Bring favourite treats or a toy. With those you draw attention and reward calm behaviour.
- If needed bring a lead or a basket, so your pet feels at home.
- If you can, bring an extra adult who can guide the animal. Then you can be in the photo yourself too.
- Keep your pet's hair in mind when choosing clothes. Plain, calm colours work well. You will find more ideas in our article what to wear to a photoshoot.
What if my pet is restless?
That is no problem. An animal cannot be directed, and it is the natural moments that make the nicest photos. We take our time, let the animal get used to it first and never force anything. A photo with a pet is rarely perfect in one go, so a little patience helps.
Children and a pet
