What do you look for in a cake smash photographer?
- Who takes care of the cake and styling? It takes a lot of stress away if the photographer arranges the cake, the colours and the set-up.
- Allergies. Can the cake be lactose-free or adapted? That should be possible in advance.
- Pace. A 1-year-old can be shy, tired or very busy. A good photographer does not work against the clock.
- Natural photos. Check whether the examples show real reactions: laughing, tasting, making a mess.
- Clear packages. What is included, how many edited photos do you get and what do extra photos cost?
- Practical. Is there a bath session after the cake? Is clothing available? Where does the shoot take place?

Cake, lactose-free and allergies
We take care of the cake, in the colours of your theme. Does your little one have a lactose intolerance or another allergy? We also arrange lactose-free cakes and take other allergies into account. Always let us know when you request. Read everything in cake and allergies.
Clothing: free client closet
With us you can use a free client closet with clothing for boys and girls of 1 year. We do always advise bringing something yourself too, plus spare clothes because a cake smash gets messy. Read about the client closet and what to wear.
When do you plan a cake smash?
Usually around the first birthday, but a cake smash can also be just before or after the birthday. Preferably do not plan it too late and choose a moment when your little one is fit. All tips are in when to plan a cake smash.
Booking, deposit and photos
- You request your shoot. We contact you via WhatsApp within 24 hours to go through everything and plan a day and time together.
- After the deposit of €60 your shoot is definite. Free cancelling or rescheduling is possible up to 72 hours before the shoot.
- We deliver your photos within 3 weeks after you have chosen your favourites. Extra photos cost €4 each and for many photos we give a discount. See ordering extra photos.
- May we share your photos on social media? You decide. You choose Yes, No or I do not know yet.
Coming from far? A cake smash for the whole Netherlands
Our clients really come from all over the country: from Apeldoorn, Groningen, Utrecht, Rotterdam, Amsterdam and everywhere in between, and also from Belgium. Many families turn it into a nice day out. Because we never work against the clock and a cake smash usually takes 40 to 75 minutes, there is no need to rush.
- Plan the shoot at a moment when your little one is fit, for example after a nap, and allow enough travel time.
- Bring spare clothes. A cake smash gets messy and our free client closet helps you out.
- Talk to us about the day and the time. We plan a moment together with you that fits your journey.
Frequently asked questions about a cake smash photographer
What does a cake smash in the Netherlands cost? At Photostudio62 a cake smash costs €275 (Bronze), €295 (Silver) or €340 (Gold). All prices include VAT.
How long does a cake smash take? With Bronze usually 40 to 45 minutes, with Silver 45 to 60 minutes and with Gold 60 to 75 minutes. We take our time and do not work against the clock.
What if my little one does not want to eat cake? That happens and is not a problem at all. We let your little one discover at their own pace and do not make it a competition. Curiosity often comes by itself.
Where does the cake smash take place? In our studio in The Hague (ABC Westland 259, 2685 DC). Our clients come from all over the country, such as Apeldoorn, Groningen, Utrecht, Rotterdam and Amsterdam, and also from Belgium.
